Legal Costs
We are a member of the Simplified Grants Unit with Victoria Legal Aid for Family Law matters and also undertake work in other areas that Legal Aid is available, such as criminal and serious traffic offences.
We are also a member of the Law Institute of Victoria Referral Service, in which we provide a thirty minute enquiry interview at no charge to you, all that is required is a referral letter from the Law Institute of Victoria, an appointment time and the completion of an initial interview form. This interview can be used to determine the nature of your legal issue and to discuss your potential available options and costs.
We are at all times obliged to provide you with an estimate of the potential costs associated to proceed with your matter. If we are requested to undertake any legal work on your behalf (e.g. reading contracts, writing letters etc) then our standard fees will apply and if we believe the works will incur legal fees in excess of $750.00, we will provide you with a Cost Agreement and Disclosure Statement which you must sign and provide back to the office along with a retainer fee to be deposited into our trust account, prior to the commencement of work on your file. The amount of the retainer fee will be dependant upon the works required and assessed after your initial appointment.
The issue of Legal Costs should at all times be open and transparent and we encourage you to discuss the issue of costs at any time.
