We offer a discounted first appointment. This appointment is an opportunity for you to put forth the details of your matter and for us to assess your matter and provide you with an estimated time frame for completion, estimated legal fees and disbursements and to also discuss the way forward.
Disbursements are expenses paid to third parties, such as Report Writers, Barristers and Accountants etc.
Our first appointment is free for the first 15 minutes and then charged at a discounted rate of $55.00 per 15 minutes up to the first hour, after which the standard rate will apply. Therefore, a full hour will only cost $165.00 and is payable on the day of your appointment.
Privately funded Clients
For private clients we are at all times obliged to provide you with an estimate of the potential costs associated to proceed with your matter. If we are requested to undertake any legal work on your behalf (e.g. reading contracts, writing letters etc) then our standard fees in accordance with the Practitioners Remuneration Order will apply and if we believe the work will incur legal fees in excess of $750.00, we will provide you with a Cost Agreement and Disclosure Statement setting out an estimate of the costs.
Prior to the commencement of work on your file, the Cost Agreement and Disclosure Statement must be signed and returned to the office, along with the requested retainer fee being deposited into our non interest earning Trust Account. The amount of the retainer fee will depend upon the work required and is assessed at your initial appointment. If we believe your legal fees will be under $750.00 we will request the estimated fee to be paid into our Trust Account in full prior to any work commencing.
The issue of legal costs should at all times be open and transparent and we encourage you to discuss any questions or concerns relating to costs at any time.
